Three good things about today
Someone made your day easier today without being asked. Who, and what did they do?
In 47, the 4 means 4 tens (40) and the 7 means 7 ones.
Everything is living, dead, or has never been alive. Living things move, grow, need food and water, and have babies. A dog and a tree are living. A leaf that has fallen off a tree is dead, because it was alive once. A rock has never been alive.
Adding -ly to a word often turns it into a word that describes how something happens. Most words just add -ly straight on, like quick becomes quickly. If a word ends in y, change the y to i before adding -ly, so happy becomes happily.

Name something your body let you do today that you never usually thank it for.
A habitat is the home where an animal or plant lives. It gives them food, water and shelter. A fish lives in a pond. A worm lives in the soil. A woodlouse likes dark, damp places, like under a log. A polar bear lives somewhere very cold.
The past tense tells us something already happened. Most verbs add -ed, so walk becomes walked. Some verbs are irregular and change completely, so go becomes went instead of goed.

Three good things about today
What is one thing in this room you would genuinely miss if it vanished tonight?
A food chain shows what eats what. A food chain always starts with a plant. In the chain grass, then rabbit, then fox, the rabbit eats the grass and the fox eats the rabbit. An animal that eats only plants is called a herbivore. An animal that eats other animals is called a carnivore.
A kitten was stuck up a tall tree. It cried loudly for help. A kind woman brought a ladder and climbed up slowly. She lifted the kitten gently and carried it down. The kitten purred and rubbed against her leg. Then it ran home to its warm basket.

An apostrophe can show that letters are missing, like do not becoming don't. An apostrophe can also show that something belongs to someone, like the bird's nest for a nest belonging to one bird.

Name a sound you were glad to hear this week.
To stay healthy, we need to eat the right food, drink water, exercise and keep clean. Fruit and vegetables help keep us healthy. Too many sweets are bad for our teeth. Exercise, like running, makes our heart and muscles strong. Washing our hands gets rid of germs.
The prefix un- is added to the start of a word to make it mean the opposite. Happy becomes unhappy, and kind becomes unkind. The spelling of the root word never changes when un- is added.

Something went wrong recently and turned out fine. What was it?
We choose a material that suits the job. Glass is see-through, so it is good for windows. Metal is strong, so it is good for a bridge. Rubber is bendy and waterproof, so it is good for wellies. Wood is strong and hard, so it can make a chair. Some materials can be squashed, bent, twisted or stretched. Pulling an elastic band to make it longer is stretching it.
Today I went to the farm with my class. We fed the goats crunchy carrots. Next we watched a farmer milk a cow. The milk was warm and frothy! After lunch we collected eggs from the hens. I felt very tired but happy on the bus home.
